OUR SUMMER SQUAD 

Applications are open to current post-secondary students and recent graduates.  This is a great opportunity for a current design student seeking an accredited internship as a requirement to graduate. We also welcome applicants from historically underrepresented groups or professionals making a career transition with less than 3 years of experience looking to take the next step in their career.  

This is a summer contract that will give you valuable exposure and skill-building opportunities within several of our departments. Salt XC’s Summer Squad will consist of a 4-month long contract, full-time hours, from May to August 2025, with the opportunity for a contract extension beyond this date.  

Over the duration of the program, you can expect opportunities to network, meet Salters across other departments, participate in additional learning & development opportunities, and receive mentorship from those currently in their desired field. 

This is a Hybrid work opportunity with 2-3 days in office required at our Salt Toronto Head Office in Liberty Village, Downtown Toronto.

ROLE OVERVIEW  

SALT XC is seeking Creative Interns to join our team— focused on either Copywriting or Art Direction. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in an agency setting, working alongside experienced creatives on real-world projects.

As a Copywriter Intern, you’ll collaborate with the Creative Team to develop skills, learn industry tools, and contribute to innovative projects. From brainstorming to execution, you’ll craft compelling narratives, refine brand messaging, and develop engaging copy for various platforms, including social, digital, print, and experiential marketing. You’ll be expected to bring fresh, diverse ideas to the table, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and adapt copy based on feedback while maintaining creative integrity.

As an Art Director Intern, you’ll work alongside Designers and Art Directors to develop visual concepts, campaign assets, and brand storytelling. You will assist in designing assets for branding, social, digital, print, and experiential marketing, ensuring that creative ideas are brought to life through impactful and aesthetically compelling visuals.

The ideal candidates work well independently and collaboratively within a team, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are versatile, problem-solvers, enthusiastic, and eager to learn.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to a variety of creative projects across branding, digital, print, social media, and experiential marketing.
  • Collaborate with Creative team members to develop engaging content and visuals.
  • Participate in idea generation and concepting, bringing innovative storytelling and design approaches to projects.
  • Work under Senior Art Directors and Senior Copywriters to execute creative work.
  • Develop headlines, scripts, visual assets, and campaign materials that align with brand strategy.
  • Assist in building pitch decks, ensuring strong narrative flow and visually compelling presentations.
  • Support social media content creation by crafting engaging copy and eye-catching creative.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS  

  • Recent grad or currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Advertising or creative related field.
  • A portfolio that showcases student work.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to present and articulate ideas effectively.
  • Promising conceptual thinking, ideation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a keen sense of storytelling, branding, and audience engagement.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint for deck creation.
  • Copywriters: Passion for writing, editing, and developing engaging brand narratives.
  • Art Directors: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is a plus.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to adapt creative work based on feedback.
