GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Creative Director manages and supervises a team of designers and is accountable to YESCO management for the quality and accuracy of the designs produced by the team. The Creative Director leads the Design team by example in an atmosphere of creativity, professionalism, collaboration, and respect. The Design department creates concepts that describe how YESCO products might be built. Under the Creative Director’s supervision, the Design department delivers clear, compelling concepts that support YESCO Sales. The Creative Director is responsible for understanding the budget and fabrication requirements and working to ensure the viability of the concepts produced by Design. The Creative Director is responsible for the timely delivery of designs and design revisions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assign work to designers and monitor their work, acknowledging accomplishments, suggesting improvements, or ordering corrections as required.

Encourage each team member to learn new skills and, when warranted, provide each member the opportunity to work on challenging projects of greater complexity.

Evaluate the performance of each member of the Design team.

Participate fully in YESCO performance initiatives.

Communicate with the employees in other departments and represent Design in a positive and cooperative manner.

Assist account executives by meeting with clients and making presentations when requested.

Participate in staff and manager meetings, as required.

Personally create designs as needed.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS

A high school diploma or GED and five or more years of relevant experience involving demonstrated abilities in graphic design and commercial artwork or any combination of training, education, and experience provide the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:

Knowledgeable in the materials and processes involved in the fabrication of sign products.

Skilled in graphic design, with a working knowledge of historical and contemporary trends in graphic composition, color, and typography.

Demonstrable experience making conceptual and detailed sign design drawings according to prevailing industry standards.

Demonstrable experience designing and programming sign systems, including wayfinding and ADA-compliant signage.

Proficient in CorelDraw, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, SketchUp and design programs required in the creation of design concepts.

Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple work activities to meet critical deadlines, as well as working independently

Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals in person, via telephone, and in writing

Ability to operate computer, telephone, and other office equipment

Excellent computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and graphic design

Excellent basic design math skills

Strong work ethic with an enthusiastic, positive attitude and the highest level of integrity
