The Financial Analyst develops and prepares complex and critical financial measurements regarding operating results, new business opportunities, and special projects. This role supports the Director, FP&A and is responsible for the financial planning and analysis function for Marketing, Product, Channel (MPC) business unit, which includes monthly internal reporting and analysis, DCF modeling, yearly planning, quarterly forecasting, and related reporting and presentations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists in preparation of zero based annual operating budgets and quarterly forecasts including direct marketing and other operating expenses and headcount.
- Provides OPEX and direct marketing expense analysis and commentary of actual versus budget amounts on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
- Prepares financial models contemplating payback periods, NPV, ROI and other measures.
- Analyzes financial performance and creates ad hoc financial reports and presentations.
- Develops and maintains vendor level trending analysis.
- Supports and/or assists with month end close activities including but not limited to preparing account analysis, preparing journal entries, validating general ledger balances, researching purchase orders for accruals, ensuring proper coding of actual expenses versus planned expenditures, meeting SOX reporting requirements and performing analytical activities to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Serves as a business partner to Director, FP&A and the MPC business unit management team. Responsibilities include delivering timely and accurate information regarding financial performance, working with business unit managers to develop forecasts and helping them understand the financial implications of their decisions. Prioritizes and balances informational inquiries from corporate, executive and operational management.
Qualifications
- 4-year bachelors degree with 3+ years’ finance or accounting experience, Graduate Degree/MBA preferred, or equivalent work experience
- Strong analytical skills; ability to gather and analyze financial and operational data
- In-depth knowledge of financial, accounting and/or audit principles, practices, and hands on experience
- Ability to perform in high pressure, heavily matrixed environment
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Professional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience with Oracle Financials is required including but not limited to PO inquiry, AP inquiry and GL module
- Advanced MS Office skills (PowerPoint, Excel, e.g. vlookups, pivot tables, graphs, advanced calculations, and formulas)
- Experience with Smart View, Hyperion Planning and Tableau is preferred
This position is based in our Reston, Virginia office and offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule.
The pay range for this role is $67,700-$91,700.
The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is noted above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience. Verisign offers a discretionary bonus which is based on individual and company performance, and certain roles may be eligible for discretionary stock awards.
