The US Corporate & Commercial Counsel will be part of the broader North America National Team – a dynamic team of lawyers across the US and Canada who specialize in Antitrust & Competition, Commercial Transactions, Corporate Governance, Environmental, Real Estate, Tax & Finance, led by the General Counsel of North America.  

 

This role will support and report into the US Senior Counsel for Corporate & Commercial, servicing the Unilever core business (Beauty & Wellbeing, Personal Care, Home Care, Nutrition and Ice Cream) as well as the “Global Business Units” (or “GBUs” – which includes the Prestige, Health & Wellness and The Laundress businesses).  The US Counsel will work both independently and alongside other legal partners to advise Customer Development, Procurement, Business Operations and Data & Analytics teams across all US businesses.  In addition to legal business partnering, the US Corporate Counsel will work with functional and legal colleagues across Unilever to progress our organization’s transformation agenda.   

 

The candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, working both independently and as part of a team. 

 

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE 

 

  • Support on review, drafting and negotiation of and advising on a variety of commercial contracts including business services, manufacturing, equipment finance, leases, consulting, construction, warehouse, distribution, vendor and sales agreements; digital and physical couponing and promotions, data purchase/license and related SaaS vehicles for data analytics;  
  • Work cross-functionally on projects throughout the customer development, procurement and operations organizations to meet critical business objectives;  
  • Work with functional partners and other legal team members in developing, improving, and implementing contracting guidelines, templates, processes, and business training;  
  • Leverage broad servicing scope across all US businesses to identify and leverage internal synergies; 
  • Stay abreast of relevant and emerging trends in the law; 
  • Partner with functional and legal partners to leverage and scale enterprise technology. 

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED 

Experiences & Qualifications 

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school. 
  • Admission in good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. state, and eligible to practice as in-house counsel in the State of New Jersey 
  • 3-4 years of general corporate and commercial transactional experience acquired in a law firm, with some in-house experience preferred. 
  • In-house experience in the CPG Industry a plus 
  • Experience leveraging technology to enhance legal services a plus

Pay: The pay range for this position is $99,760 to $149,640. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.
 

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.

Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
