About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Core Network Engineer with hands-on experience in 4G LTE and 5G NR core networks to support the design, deployment, and optimization of next-generation mobile networks. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in EPC/5GC architecture, strong troubleshooting skills, and a passion for innovation in telecommunications. An active security clearance (Secret or higher) is a strong plus and may provide access to additional project opportunities.

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 

  • Design, configure, and optimize 4G/5G mobile core networks, including EPC and 5GC components (MME, SGW, PGW, AMF, SMF, UPF, etc.).
  • Deploy and maintain virtualized and cloud-native core network solutions (NFV, CNFs, VNFs).
  • Perform end-to-end testing and integration with RAN, transport, and OSS/BSS systems.
  • Analyze network KPIs and implement strategies for improved performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across multi-vendor platforms (e.g., Nokia, Ericsson, Huawei, Cisco).
  • Collaborate with security, operations, and field teams to ensure compliant and secure network operations.
  • Document network architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.

Location:

You will work as part of a dynamic team remotely in metro-accessible Reston, VA. You will work at the client site dependent on contract requirements.

Required Experience/Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3–7 years of experience in mobile core network engineering with emphasis on 4G LTE and/or 5G.
  • Strong understanding of 3GPP standards and mobile core protocols (S1, S6a, S11, GTP, Diameter, HTTP/2, etc.).
  • Experience with IP networking, routing, and security practices.
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware, OpenStack, Kubernetes).
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • US citizenship and the ability to pass public trust clearance or suitability

Preferred Experience/Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with 5G Standalone (SA) and Non-Standalone (NSA) core networks.
  • Vendor certifications (e.g., Nokia NRS, Cisco CCNP, Ericsson Certified).
  • Experience with network orchestration, SDN/NFV, and cloud-native network functions.
  • Active U.S. Government Security Clearance (Secret or higher) is a strong plus.

Salary:

Approximate Salary Estimate: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 annually
