We are seeking a performance-driven Copywriter to develop concise, action-inspiring marketing copy across email, direct mail, paid search, display ads, and social media. While you will contribute across multiple channels, email and direct mail will be a key focus—crafting messaging that engages, converts, and aligns with compliance standards.

In this role, you will write, test, and refine direct response copy that motivates users to take action—whether that’s filling out a lead form or calling our banking team. You will collaborate with marketing, creative, and compliance teams to ensure messaging resonates with users while meeting regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Research, write, and optimize direct response copy with a strong focus on email and direct mail, while also contributing to paid search, display ads, and social media.
  • Continuously develop and refine copy ideas for A/B testing, using data-driven insights to optimize messaging.
  • Use audience insights, competitive analysis, and performance data to inform copy decisions.
  • Identify gaps in testing and collaborate with the team to ensure key messaging is tested across channels.
  • Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Creative, Product, and Compliance to align messaging and strategy.
  • Work with compliance and legal teams to ensure copy meets regulatory standards while maintaining strong performance.
  • Negotiate messaging adjustments with compliance teams to balance effectiveness with regulatory requirements.
  • Stay informed on competitor messaging trends and apply learnings where relevant.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of email and direct mail best practices, including personalization, subject line optimization, and conversion-focused messaging.
  • Highly creative and experienced in translating user research insights into engaging and motivating ad copy.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient at conveying a single idea in multiple ways across various marketing channels.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret performance data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Capable of handling multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
  • Keeps up to date with evolving AI tools to enhance copywriting.
  • Comfortable presenting and explaining copy decisions to cross-functional teams and leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Communication, Marketing, or English.
  • Direct response copywriting experience in digital and social marketing is a plus.
  • Knowledge of advertising fundamentals, including strategy and storytelling, is a plus.
  • Creativity, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Detail-oriented with a high sense of accountability and integrity.
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with other productivity applications.
  • Portfolio showcasing successful direct response campaigns.
