First Student is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Coordinator I to join our team. This role is integral to ensuring accurate and efficient payroll processing, with key responsibilities including:
  • Managing union dues
  • Processing garnishments
  • Ensuring payroll accuracy

Major responsibilities include:

  • Entry and review of payroll data, employee maintenance, and tax information.
  • Coordinating with HR and unions for accurate employee updates.
  • Supporting Payroll Specialists in processing payrolls and reconciling data.
  • Auditing payroll data and ensuring accuracy before payroll execution.
  • Handling manual checks, banking submissions, and special reports.
  • Running payroll reports, assisting with W-2 reconciliation, and addressing payroll inquiries via customer service.

Minimum Education or Certifications Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate’s Degree (or equivalent) preferred


Minimum Experience or Skills Required

  • 1 year experience in Payroll with Customer Service or H.R. background
  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft products, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of computerized time & attendance and payroll processing systems. Workday experience a plus, but not required.
  • Good oral and written communication skills required
  • Good customer service skills
  • Strong ability to follow instructions
  • Well organized, solid work ethic
