CarMax is seeking a Coordinator I in Accounts Receivable Collections at our Home Office in Richmond, Virginia. The Coordinator I is responsible for various support activities related to the collections process. Tasks include distributing department mail, mailing collection letters through various methods, check deposits, payment application, placing accounts for repossession, and performing skip tracing activities. A successful Coordinator I in Accounts Receivable Collections must demonstrate strong teamwork, a drive to deliver timely, high-quality work, and a commitment to customer service.
What you will do – Essential Responsibilities
• Facilitate the timely mailing of written correspondence to collection customers, through various mailing methods and in partnership with the Home Office Mail Operations team.
• Complete check deposits and execute required daily payment application processes to ensure timely fulfillment of receivables.
• Complete repossession placements, vehicle transport requests, and escalate any required approvals or account details to appropriate team members.
• Maintain team email inboxes, forward and respond to correspondence appropriately
• Review bankruptcy notifications and input details into accounts in the collection system (CAMS). notify appropriate teams of bankruptcy notice for compliance standards.
• Research new collection items and obtain information and documentation required for entering new accounts into the collection system (CAMs). Key exception items manually as needed.
• Provide a positive customer experience through effective communication with CarMax stores, retail customers, internal departments, and external business partners.
• Distribute department mail, filing, and skip tracing activities as requested.

Education and/or Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 1+ years of business-related experience required (e.g., bookkeeping, cash management, office management)
• Experience with basic accounting concepts a plus
• Basic level in Microsoft Excel required (e.g., sorting, filtering, subtotals, shortcuts)
• Basic level in Microsoft Word, Teams, Outlook highly preferred
• Experience in Cloud ERP solution (e.g., Oracle) is a plus
