The purpose of the role:

As a Controls Systems Engineer in the BESS hybrid controls space, you will be responsible for identifying solutions for transactional hybrid fleets, creating Proof of Concept for various innovative and differentiating controls and develop a deployable solution to our global regions.

You will ideally be interested in learning about Battery Energy Storage Systems, microgrid applications, operating principle of Inverters, BMS for Li-Ion batteries and applications working for BESS with Generators.

Key Responsibilities

The key focus areas for the Controls Systems Engineer position are:

• Assessment of hybrid controllers against various Aggreko applications including market analysis of available control solutions.
• Develop sub-system functions for BESS hybrid control applications.
• Verification and demonstration of upcoming projects for proving our bespoke control solutions.
• Assisting with SAT and FAT of the product solutions by participating in testing at Aggreko or customer site.
• Understand the standards and certifications for hybrid control solutions required for different parts of the world.
• Support stakeholders, advising on controls solution for complex applications.
• Point of contact for regions to review and discuss application requirements.
• Tailor and conduct training for regional teams on hybrid control solutions.
• Supporting departmental processes and methods for increasing efficiency and quality.

What we’re looking for:

• Electrical, Electronic or Controls Engineering degree (or equivalent).
• Understanding of CODESYS programming and plc applications.
• Ideally knowledge of model-based engineering and simulation environments.
• Understanding of Power Systems and BESS inverter capabilities.
• Understanding of Applications of BESS and Gensets.
• Experience with controls development, testing, simulation, and applications.
• Strong Knowledge of Energy Storage Systems, Renewables, and Hybrids, including product testing and terminologies.
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills - communicates clearly and effectively with all levels of stakeholders (internal and external).
• A track record of motivating, inspiring and supporting individuals to be their best and grow.
