To strengthen our automation department abilities, the Controls Engineer will work with the Gema USA team while collaborating with the Controls Engineering group based in Switzerland. The primary focus will be development and support of programming for industrial automation applications.
What You Will Do at Gema

Responsible for the support and implementation of customer-specific software solutions for our standard Industrial controllers in automation and process control applications.

Support in-house software tests. Prepare documentation for any modifications to the standard application.

Be the Subject Matter Expert relating to questions regarding Gema software and control technology for our customers and distributors as well as our service technicians.

Assist Service and Installation technicians during startup and debug of new and existing installations

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. However, the individual may be called upon to supervise others for installation and troubleshooting of field applications.
What You Will Bring to Gema
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Software Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.

3+ Years experience using the Structured Text programming language Allen Bradley. CoDeSys and or Allen Bradley programming experience a plus.

Thorough knowledge of industrial control and automation technology.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. The individual must have the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in the communication of equipment, installation or customer requirements. This individual must also be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

It is a requirement they be able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. They should also be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

It is essential to be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to travel up to 20% - International travel occasionally required. Customer specific travel would be North America including Canada and Mexico. Most software related issues and modifications can by addressed via remote connection. Other travel would be to Gema in Switzerland for training purposes.

The base pay range for this position is listed below, exclusive of fringe benefits or other compensation. If you are hired, your final base hourly rate will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, competencies, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, we will also consider internal equity of our current employees. Please keep in mind that the range provided is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at or near the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.
