About you and this role -

Dow is seeking a Controllers Technologist for an exciting position at our Houston Dow Center in Houston, TX.

This role is crucial to supporting the Hydrocarbons business and is an essential member of the business finance team. This role is responsible in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all feedstock invoices and in compliance with Dow’s internal controls.

The individual in this role will work closely with the commercial and finance teams. It is essential to have advanced skills in process coordination, prioritization, procedures, and systems, as well as demonstrate leadership, efficient collaboration across various functions, and effective communication with colleagues. Furthermore, the individual needs to have an owner’s mindset to maintain financial integrity and drive operational excellence in this critical process.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure feedstocks invoices are processed accurately and in alignment with financial policies and procedures.
  • Manage daily financial transactions, including verification, classification, and recording of accounts payable data.
  • Maintain the integrity of the account's payable ledger, confirming all bills and payments are properly posted.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies through thorough reconciliation of vendor accounts and monthly statements.
  • Produce detailed reports on accounts payable status.
  • Work collaboratively with commercial and business teams to address payment-related concerns.
  • Works autonomously within established procedures and practices; proposing improvements to processes and methods as needed.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of compliance and SOX internal control requirements related to accounts payable processes.
  • Maintains up to date process and controls documentation.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum associate degree or higher.
  • At least 3 years of accounting, finance, accounts payable or related experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • A minimum for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills:

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance or a similar field is preferred.
  • Accounts payable experience.
  • Proficient in invoice processing using Allegro or comparable commodity management software.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, particularly SAP.
  • An organized self-starter with sound judgment and the flexibility to adapt to changing business needs.
