This pivotal role combines financial management, business analytics, and operational support, working closely with the Vice President of Finance to ensure financial integrity and drive business growth. The Controller will oversee transactional accounting processes while providing actionable insights that support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Prepares, analyzes, and presents financial statements, forecasts, and budgets;
- Delivers and maintains insightful financial reports and dashboards to support executive decision-making; and
- Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying trends and recommending corrective actions as needed.
Business & Operational Support
- Partners with the sales team to align financial strategies with business objectives and revenue targets;
- Collaborates with management on operational strategies and initiatives to drive growth and efficiency;
- Conducts cost-benefit analyses to evaluate business opportunities and optimize resource allocation; and
- Provides financial insights to support business planning, performance reviews and the development of KPI reports.
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Oversees and manages daily accounts receivables (AR), accounts payable (AP), billing, and journal entry processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness; and
- Leads month-end and year-end closing activities, including account reconciliations and variance analysis.
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Identifies opportunities to streamline financial and operational processes using technology and best practices;
- Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate policies, and internal controls;
- Develops and implements robust internal controls to safeguard financial assets and maintain data integrity; and
- Stays informed about changes in financial regulations and standards to ensure ongoing compliance.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation (or working towards it) required;
- Minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years of progressive experience in financial analysis, reporting, or accounting;
- Advanced proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel, experience with business intelligence tools is an asset;
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solvingskills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights;
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; and
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and proactive approach to challenges.
Working Conditions
- Work normal business hours but may be required to do some work in the evenings or outside normal working hours depending on urgency or availability of client to meet their needs.
- Able to work on a computer for long periods of time;
- Required to work in a busy, open area office;
- Required to spend long hours concentrating which will require attention to detail and high levels of accuracy; and
- Required to meet a number of deadlines.
