What is the Controller role?
As the Controller, you will be responsible for leading the accounting function, ensuring financial integrity, and managing our internal financial controls, systems, and operations. You will be a key player in helping leadership make crucial business decisions and will be navigating through some of the most impactful problems we have as a company as we grow to public company scale. The ideal candidate is a licensed CPA with a mix of Big 4 and industry experience.
This role is fully remote.
What you’ll be doing:
- Own, execute and automate all key accounting and finance operations processes, including monthly close, order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, and record-to-report
- Ensure the timeliness, accuracy, and integrity of our financial statements
- Partner with engineers, product managers, and operators to build out and implement financial systems and make strategic infrastructure investments, including our ERP
- Develop and implement key accounting policies and controls, and ensure consistency across multiple operating entities and domestic and international jurisdictions
- Build and mentor a world-class accounting and financial operations team
- Prepare for and successfully lead our first audit
- Own and manage tax strategy and compliance
- Manage insurance policies and posture - select and manage brokers, ensure compliance with partner needs, and balance cost with risk management
- Build relationships with cross-disciplinary teams of clinicians, operators, and engineers to enable rapid scaling of the business
- Special projects and assignments as needed
What you’ll bring
- 12+ years of Finance/Accounting experience including a combination of public accounting, Big 4 (required), as well as industry accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance required
- CPA (or equivalent) required
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- A strong sense of mission and a desire to have impact at scale
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves and the ability to zoom out and be a strategic partner for the business
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively across a diverse range of departments and levels, including executive management. Ability to maintain positive, professional relationships with personnel at all levels of the organization
- Experience working with venture-backed, high-growth technology companies strongly preferred
- Experience with healthcare, SaaS, multinational entities, and transfer pricing strongly preferred
- Experience with ERP and other system implementations a plus, particularly Microsoft Dynamics
