About the Team:
The Finance team provides both strategic direction and operational level management of all financial and taxation transactions of the firm including the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.
Purpose of the Role:
The Controller is responsible for oversight and execution of all corporate accounting activities across various entities. The role ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and oversees the accurate and timely submission of financial reports. As a member of the Finance Leadership team, the Controller provides professional and insightful support and recommendations to the Chief Financial Officer and seeks out opportunities to improve systems and processes.
Core Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements and other monthly reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with corporate policies, regulatory and IFRS requirements.
- Oversee development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure high standards of accuracy and integrity in financial data.
- Oversee the maintenance and ongoing development of the corporate accounting ERP system.
- Provides oversight and leadership to the Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll functions.
- Review monthly consolidations and cash projections.
- Review regulatory quarterly Excess Working Capital filings for submission to the BCSC.
- Manage corporate tax compliance and planning, liaising with tax advisors as needed.
- Oversee banking.
- Review relevant Tax Remittances.
- Coordinate and prepare for annual audits and committee meetings and reviews of financial statements and tax returns of all corporate entities.
- Work with members of the year-end audit team to facilitate accurate and timely audited Financial Statements.
- Lead Finance and cross functional special projects and new business initiatives.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation.
- 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with extensive leadership experience.
- Full-cycle financial statement preparation experience.
- Experience in consolidations and complex cash flow forecasting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Familiarity with Workday Finance and/or Concur SAP is considered an asset.
- Experience working in a high performing, fast paced, client service oriented capacity with both internal and external customers while being highly adaptable and comfortable with change.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership, influence and team management abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
Compensation & Benefits Package:
This position comes with a base salary range of $160,000 - $180,000 plus a competitive performance bonus, RRSP contribution and participation in our profit-sharing program. Base salary will be commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
