What You’ll Do in the Role:

  • Financial Management & Reporting Systems: Implement and oversee robust financial reporting systems to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and consistency in all financial reports. Establish clear close deadlines and reporting schedules to ensure the company meets key financial milestones, providing critical data for strategic decision-making.
  • Implement Control Systems: Develop and enforce internal control systems to safeguard company assets, improve operational efficiency, and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures. Work to continuously enhance financial processes to mitigate risks and drive operational effectiveness.
  • WIP Accounting & Tax Compliance: Manage all aspects of Work in Progress (WIP) accounting, ensuring that all job costs, including labor, materials, and overheads, are tracked accurately. Oversee tax compliance, ensuring the company adheres to all local, state, and federal tax regulations. Coordinate with external partners to ensure timely and accurate tax filings.
  • Annual Audit & Preparation: Lead the preparation for annual audits, ensuring that all necessary financial documentation and reports are accurate and organized for external auditors. Collaborate with auditors to facilitate a smooth audit process and resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise.
  • FP&A and Budgeting: Oversee Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) activities, including preparing detailed financial forecasts, budgets, and business plans. Manage the company's budgeting process, ensuring that all departments have clear financial goals and tracking mechanisms in place. Analyze financial performance against budget and recommend corrective actions when needed.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team, ensuring they are aligned with company goals and objectives. Hire, evaluate, and build a strong team to support financial operations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Financial Strategy & Cost Optimization: Track, analyze, and develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to optimize the company's financial performance. Identify cost-reduction strategies and revenue opportunities within the business. Propose solutions to improve financial processes such as payroll, payable management, and cash flow optimization.
  • Process Improvement & Systems Support: Lead efforts to streamline financial processes and implement new systems, such as ERPs and accounting tools, to enhance operational efficiency. Ensure these systems integrate seamlessly with the business.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in a financial leadership role, with a proven track record of managing financial operations, particularly in a service-oriented or contracting business. Experience with a rapidly growing or entrepreneurial company is highly preferred.
  • Systems Proficiency: Proficient in financial software, Excel, and reporting tools. Experience with ERP systems and financial automation tools is a plus.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable with ambiguity and effective at managing change in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Able to thrive in an entrepreneurial setting and contribute to long-term business growth.
