Our Opportunity…
We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager Contractor to support our Legal Team with drafting, reviewing, negotiating, executing and filing legal documentation and contracts. The ideal candidate will have expertise in assessing legal contracts in the biotech/pharmaceutical/life sciences industry. You will have a general understanding of a broad range of corporate in-house legal matters, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to work relatively autonomously in coordination with in-house Counsel. As part of our Legal Team based in our Cambridge, MA you'll be a vital part of a highly collaborative team working to achieve the Obsidian’s vision by translating innovative science into medical breakthroughs for patients, starting with our lead program cytoTIL15 a novel engineered tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy.
This is a unique opportunity in a well-funded clinical stage company with blue chip investors, field-leading advisors, and a highly experienced leadership team. This is anticipated to be a 2-month contract role which can be remotely based anywhere within the United States, provided you can work Eastern Standard Time business hours. You will be expected to devote full-time hours to this position during the contract period.
You will...
- Work with cross-functional team members to draft, review, negotiate, execute and file legal documentation and contracts (such as MSAs, CDA/NDAs, SOWs, and Change Orders).
- Assist Legal and relevant internal business partners in determining the necessity and approach to contracts, ensuring protection of the company's proprietary technology; may collaborate with contracted external counsel assisting with contract review.
- Advise internal business partners of the risks presented by contract terms and possible strategies to mitigate such risk.
- Support administration of the company’s contract management system (Contract Logix).
- Use a wide range of legal or specialized knowledge to provide legal support services in an efficient and timely manner.
- Exercise good judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions, and escalate matters to Legal for critical risk assessments and business decisions, use initiative and discretion in accomplishing routine assignments with minimal supervision.
- Research legal issues and engage in fact gathering and checking to provide support on all assigned legal matters.

Core Qualifications
- BS/BA degree or 5+ years of legal department experience in the biotech/pharma, life sciences industry required. Law firm experience reviewing, analyzing and interpreting legal contracts.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret legal documents and to effectively present information to business partners and management.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment regarding legal and contractual matters within broadly defined practices and policies.
- Expertise with understanding and assessing legal contracts and documents.
- Excellent knowledge of a broad range of corporate in-house legal matters.
- Demonstrated ability to work with senior level law professionals and company leaders.
- Holds a thorough working knowledge of computer software, including word processing, email, document sharing and database programs (Microsoft Office, as well as CLM and related software).
- Ability to meet multiple deadlines, with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency, including getting contracts signed in a timely fashion.
- Strong verbal and written communication, attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical thinking skills.
- A highly collaborative working style. You build trusting relationships, invite and share ideas and feedback, productively challenge your own and others’ assumptions to generate new ideas and facilitate better outcomes.
- Excellent organizational skills Strong organization and record-keeping skills, including an ability to manage multiple responsibilities in parallel.
