What you will do
Johnson Controls (JCI) seeks an experienced Italian qualified lawyer with an international corporate mindset as Contract Counsel, Italy, to be based in Milan. In this challenging position you will be part of the EMEALA Legal team and a key member of the leadership teams in Italy, acting as a strong and trusted business partner to your clients. You will also be an active member of JCI Law and Policy Dept. (LPD).
How you will do it
- Provide effective, proactive and practical legal support to the business clients in Italy on all levels of the organisation
- Act as the primary point of contact for delivering timely and comprehensive legal advice in a variety of legal fields with a focus on construction, installation and digital legal topics
- Review, draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts
- Ensure that contracts are in compliance with legal, regulatory and company’s policies
- Monitor the contract life-cycle process to assure compliance with the organization’s contractual guidelines including participation in pre-bid contract reviews, contract negotiations and contract execution processes
- Actively support global strategic legal initiatives to continuously improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the LPD
- Proactively and closely collaborate with colleagues of the LPD and with other functions
- Actively manage outside counsel relationship and regional legal budget
What we look for
- Qualified lawyer in Italy with 5+ years post-qualification experience in legal functions in a multinational environment – ideally operating within an industrial context
- Legal generalist with understanding of the construction industry and a collaborative mindset, team spirit and willingness to drive change and transformation of the LPD
- Proficient in drafting various type of contracts in English and negotiating complex deals directly with customers, subcontractors and vendors
- Ability to act as trusted and recognized legal business partner with a strong entrepreneurial acumen and business mindset in a very dynamic environment as part of a multinational team with multiple complex matters in parallel
- Ability to work efficiently to deadlines as part of a team
- Excellent analytical and communication abilities
- Italian as mother tongue and fluent English language both written and spoken
- Commercial background and contract & claims management skills and experience in dealing with customer claims, change orders etc.
