Scope of work

An opportunity exists for a Contracts Specialist to join the Strategy team of our large mining client. Reporting to the Contracts Superintendent – but working closely with the Senior Contracts Specialist in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Senior Contracts Specialist in the delivery of required contracts for goods and services to support mining related activity
  • Providing advice to senior managers within the business to mitigate contractual risk
  • Tendering, negotiation, analysis, award and management of Agreements for Good and Services.
  • Undertaking market intelligence to identify preferred contractors of required services.
  • Leading negotiations on terms and conditions with preferred suppliers
  • Providing support and advice to internal stakeholders, including the broader procurement team in relation to commercial related matters
  • Compiling Agreement documentation, recommendations for award and managing variations.
  • Placement and management of purchase orders
  • Resolution of invoice mismatches, disputes and claims

Qualifications

  • 5 – 10 years’ experience in a similar role providing full life cycle contract management services
  • Experience within mining, resources, heavy industries or construction (desirable).
  • Experience in a Coal Mine is a plus.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in a business, commerce, legal or engineering disciplines.
  • Strong commercial and business acumen
  • The ability to build effective stakeholder relationships
