Company Overview

Red 6 is an innovative Augmented Reality (AR) technology startup leading the way in synthetic air combat training. Our primary technology, supporting our ATARS product, enables pilots to simulate the cognitive challenges of flying while accessing realistic, scalable training in dynamic outdoor environments.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Configuration Management Analyst to streamline engineering change control, ensure design documentation integrity, and maintain configuration standards within our defense and aerospace manufacturing environment. This role is critical in reducing the burden on engineers by ensuring all design changes, initial releases, and documentation follow structured configuration management processes.

The ideal candidate is someone who loves structure, thrives in a startup environment without fully established systems, and is a Windchill expert with a deep understanding of DoD configuration management requirements. They must be able to implement and enforce CM processes without formal authority, guiding engineers and teams toward best practices while maintaining a collaborative approach.

Key Responsibilities

Configuration Management & Engineering Change Control

  • Ensure all design changes and initial releases follow a written standard practice, minimizing disruptions to engineering teams.

  • Manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), ensuring compliance with CM best practices.

  • Maintain configuration baselines and revision control, ensuring full traceability of product changes.

  • Develop and maintain a written Configuration Management (CM) Plan and ensure adherence across teams.

Document Control & Customer Deliverables (SDRLs)

  • Ensure engineering designs and changes are fully documented, supporting compliance with DoD, AS9100, ISO 9001, and ITAR requirements.

  • Prepare and provide Supplier Data Requirements Lists (SDRLs) for CM documentation to customers.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for audits, ensuring all configuration records are accessible and accurate.

  • Maintain structured document control processes to ensure consistency across engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams.

PLM & Data Management (Windchill Expert)

  • Own the configuration management aspects of Windchill, ensuring accurate BOMs, part numbering, metadata, and document control.

  • Collaborate with the Windchill & Unanet ERP System Administrator to synchronize CM data between PLM and ERP systems.

  • Troubleshoot Windchill CM issues, train users, and ensure engineers follow established configuration workflows.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement

  • Act as the CM expert and advisor to engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams, ensuring CM best practices are followed.

  • Work alongside engineers—not against them—guiding them into structured CM processes without formal authority.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce engineering overhead in CM tasks.

Experience, Skills and Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in configuration management, document control, and engineering change processes in a DoD environment.

  • Deep expertise in Windchill PLM configuration control (must understand it backwards and forwards).

  • Strong understanding of BOM management, revision control, and engineering documentation best practices.

  • Experience preparing SDRLs and other CM deliverables for defense contracts.

  • Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, and ITAR compliance.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills—must be able to guide engineers without direct authority.

  • Qualified candidates must have the ability to obtain a security clearance. This requires U.S. Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a DoD startup environment with limited established systems.

  • CMII certification in Configuration Management is a plus.

  • Knowledge of PLM-ERP system integration (Windchill & Unanet preferred).

  • Strong attention to detail and process-driven mindset—must love structure and organization.

Full-Time Employee Benefits

  • Healthcare, Dental, and Vision (100% coverage for Employees)

  • Paid time off, including vacation, sick, paid holidays, and parental leave

  • Short and Long-Term Disability

  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

  • 401(k) Retirement Plan

  • Voluntary Worksite Benefits (Accident, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity)
