We're looking for a Computer Vision Engineer to join the Snap Lab team!

You will support our Spectacles calibration team and work on automated calibration routines for the cameras, IMUs and displays built into our devices. Scalability and high throughput of those routines will be a main area of focus. You will work closely with engineers across various disciplines from mechanical engineering to factory line staff to achieve this goal. The ideal candidate has worked on sensor calibration before and has practical experience with mechanical constructions and electronic devices.

Working from our Vienna office, you’ll develop groundbreaking technology together with colleagues from our locations in Santa Monica (HQ) and London. You will collaborate with researchers, engineers, and designers and will develop algorithms and test stations to create exciting products and breakthrough interactive experiences. You will have the opportunity to travel to our calibration setups and peers around the globe.
What you’ll do:

  • Develop, setup and test efficient calibration routines for Spectacles

  • Scale up and optimize computer vision based calibration routines for high throughput

  • Use robots and actuators for calibration automation

  • Work together with mechanical engineers on fixture and test station designs

  • Conduct, analyze, automate and formalize test result monitoring

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience with C++ and Python

  • Solid foundation in Computer Vision such as camera models, multi-view geometry and transformations

  • Solid Math background with understanding of 3D geometry, trigonometry and linear algebra

  • Basic skills to work with mechanical and robotic installations
     

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BSc in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g. computer science, mechatronics, mathematics, robotics, ...)

  • Track record of successful projects showing computer vision skills

  • 3+ years of programming experience in C, C++ or Python

  • Experience with geometric camera calibration

  • Attention to detail, strong desire for quality and good communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters, PhD, or industrial experience in a relevant engineering discipline

  • 3+ years of professional work experience as an engineer

  • Experience with production of electronic devices on a factory line

  • Experience with robotic installations

  • Experience with mechanical engineering 

  • Experience with SLAM, point cloud processing or visual tracking systems
