Position Purpose
The Compensation Partner is responsible for analyzing, designing, and administering Sleep Number’s pay programs as a member of the Compensation Team. As a vertically integrated company, Sleep Number's structure provides the opportunity to gain compensation experience across various functions, such as supply chain, manufacturing, service delivery, and corporate teams. In the Compensation Partner role, you will make an immediate impact on the business by providing consultative support to Human Resources Business Partners and leadership while ensuring programs run smoothly through ongoing administrative management.
Primary Responsibilities
- Partner with business areas (e.g., Sales, Supply Chain, Field Services, & Corporate) & HRBPs to monitor compensation plan effectiveness and ensure compensation strategies align with business goals.
- Provide guidance and partner with HRBPs, TA, OD on day-to-day compensation requests (i.e., job evaluation, market analyses and pay grade assignment for new roles and promotions, devising retention strategies, job posting range requirements, market competitive pay, and compliance).
- Develop insightful and impactful modeling and reporting in support of business needs while providing recommendations for process improvement.
- Manage incentive plan design projects, including revision and legal review of plan documents, as applicable.
- Provide guidance on commission inbox management, commission processing, audit processes, data analyses & reporting.
- Process incentive plan payments (monthly, quarterly, annually); calculate accruals for finance (e.g., AIP, group incentive plans, etc.).
- Partner with HR Ops to distribute plan documents and wage notices to ensure compliance.
- Process Pay Data Reporting (e.g., Illinois & CA).
- Manage Workday pay actions requests.
- Document and maintain process documentation.
- Participate in salary surveys and submit data.
- Maintain survey job participation analysis.
- Maintain vendor list, with due dates, and pricing.
- Own Market Pay administration, including the uploading of survey data, migration (prep & post), including communicating aging factor to Market Pay to use for upcoming cycle.
- Create compensation spreadsheets for HRBPs.
- Administer retail LTI process.
- Perform Workday process testing.
- Participate in training/presentations, as applicable.
- Own job profile management by monitoring positions for inactive status and update, accordingly.
- Maintain list of compensation reports with descriptions.
- Perform compensation data audits (e.g., one-time payments), as applicable.
- Collaborate on and provide analysis for compensation strategies.
- Assist with pay structure management.
- Collaborate on annual goals and objectives.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, plus 2-4 years of related compensation experience required.
- Certifications or coursework toward CCP certification or other HR certifications, preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with advanced Excel skills, such complex formulas, data analysis, and pivot tables.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Familiarity with HRIS/Compensation systems and reporting tools, such as Workday and Market Pay.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Experience with high incumbent, hourly pay rates and pay structures highly desirable.

Salary Pay Range: $73,800.00 -$98,333.00
