Generate:Biomedicines was founded in 2018 by Flagship Pioneering and has received over $700 million in funding, providing the resources to rapidly scale the organization. The Company has offices in Somerville and Andover, Massachusetts with 300+ employees.

The Role: 

Generate:Biomedicines is seeking a Communications Associate to add to its Corporate Affairs team. This associate will have a wide remit and exposure to all aspects of our communications work, including media relations, executive visibility, conferences and awards, branding and design, content creation, social media management, internal communications and event planning. This role reports to the Head of Communications. It is based in our Somerville location; our expectation is four days in the office with a fifth day for remote work.

Here's how you will contribute:

• Drive content creation for external use that helps explain our work and our progress; this includes media materials, creative assets, visuals or animations, social media content, the website and the Generate blog  

• Develop content for internal communications channels, including announcements, interviews and short- and long-form content, that drives employee engagement and supports our multidisciplinary culture and ways of working 

• Contribute to management of company meetings including All Hands, Livestreams, cultural and celebratory events  

• Produce content for Generate’s LinkedIn, X and YouTube channels; handle posting and monitor impact and measurement 

• Prepare briefing materials for executives to prepare them for conferences, speaking engagements and media interviews; actively pitch and place these engagements 

• Participate in development of award entries that bring recognition to the company and its executives 

• Collaborate with and manage projects with our agency partners  

• Help ensure company presentations and creative assets adhere to corporate brand guidelines; help keep website up to date with new developments 

• Support media monitoring and sharing of relevant news coverage

The Ideal Candidate will have:

• A BSc degree – coursework in science is a plus - with 3-5 years of work experience in communications, ideally some in an agency setting, and experience with health and/or technology clients/companies
• An aptitude for making technical information more easily understood by an array of audiences
• Exceptional writing skills
• Social media know-how
• Knowledge of the Microsoft suite of products; facility with Canva and strong power point skills are a plus
