Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented part-time Property & Casualty (P&C) Underwriting Intern to join our Commercial Renewal Underwriting team. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the insurance industry by supporting the underwriting team in evaluating risks, analyzing data, and contributing to decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a keen interest in the insurance and risk management field.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist underwriters in reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating insurance applications and risk profiles for P&C insurance policies.
· Conduct research on industries, markets, and trends to assess risk exposure and profitability potential.
· Prepare and analyze reports related to underwriting performance, including loss ratios, premium trends, and other key metrics.
· Support the underwriting team in ensuring compliance with company guidelines, policies, and regulatory standards.
· Communicate with internal teams and external stakeholders, such as brokers and agents, to gather additional information or clarify underwriting requirements.
· Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and projects aimed at improving underwriting processes and efficiencies.
· Perform data entry and maintain accurate records in underwriting systems and databases.
· Shadow experienced underwriters to gain insight into risk assessment, policy issuance, and relationship management.
Qualifications:
· Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Insurance, Business Administration, or a related field.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
· Basic knowledge of insurance principles and terminology (preferred but not required).
· A proactive and eager-to-learn attitude with a strong work ethic.

Location:
Dallas, Texas- In office Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday but willing to work around your school schedule.
