Job Description
Vertex is searching for a Commercial Supply Chain Manager to join the Small Molecule Supply Chain Standards and Practices Team. The chosen candidate will be responsible for short- and long-term demand updates in planning system, maintaining planning parameters, maintaining planning business processes and ensuring planning system and business processes are effectively and consistently utilized by the planning team. This person will also support commercial supply chain reporting and analytics with exciting opportunities to help Vertex develop and utilize KPIs and metrics to monitor and improve business performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process
- Build the capabilities of the small molecule planning systems and business processes in alignment with leading practices and evolving business in partnership with planners and the systems team
- Oversight and continuous improvement supply chain planning business processes including understanding current processes, updating process maps as advancements are made and training planners on updates as needed.
- Facilitation of monthly and quarterly supply planning cycle for all small molecule commercial and near-to-launch programs, ensuring the following: short- and long-term demand plans are proactively managed and appropriately updated in the planning system, planning rules and assumptions are understood, accurate and documented by planners and supply plans constructed by planners are produced with robust and accurate inputs. Collaboration with our Commercial and Finance functions will be pivotal to this responsibility.
- Oversight and maintenance of small molecule supply chain planning parameters including lead times, safety stock targets, lead times and shelf life
Analytics & Reporting
- Development and implementation of supply chain reporting and analytics with exciting opportunities to help Vertex develop and utilize KPIs and metrics to monitor and improve SC performance and informing strategic business decisions for broader supply chain needs.
- Analyze supply chain data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities. Support decision making through data-drive actionable insights.
- Maintain inventory accuracy, E&O impact, and inventory reconciliation.
Systems
- Partner with key stakeholders, including planners, supply chain systems, analytics to drive forward strategic initiatives and identified Vertex and team goals
- Close collaboration with systems team to ensure system configuration and capabilities support SC business needs and to ensure integrity of data in the system, understand user requirements, develop and implement training materials and drive system enhancements.
TECHNICAL AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
- Demonstrates strong aptitude for influencing without authority and for motivating others and building team unity.
- Demonstrates ability to take ownership, own responsibilities, and see projects through to successful completion
- Exhibits robust supply chain planning knowledge. Experience in areas of Supply Planning, Inventory Management, MPS/MRP, Demand Planning and S&OP.
- Experience planning with CMO and collaborating on short term and long-term build plans
- Significant experience using Rapid Response or similar MRP system and OPM or similar inventory tracking system for supply chain planning.
- Possesses a distinguished record of delivering on critical goals and moving projects forward.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with high degree of effectiveness.
- Ability to implement a “continuous improvement” mindset/culture for improving our processes and ways of working.
- Proven ability to communicate clearly and concisely (written/oral) laterally and vertically.
- Displays strong commitment to the company’s core values.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific or business discipline, preferably supply chain or industrial operations engineering
- 5+ years of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience in supply chain or a relevant field
