Electrolux Design is building a world-class design team with the task to design future home appliances that deliver great sustainable user experiences for people around the world. The global Electrolux Design team consists of over 200 designers located in 6 different locations, working across the different experience areas of Taste, Care, and Wellbeing. As a member of our Design Team, you will contribute to our bigger goal of making a positive impact on people’s everyday lives.

We are currently looking for a talented CMF Designer who will apply their skills to ideate, visualize, and develop proposals for colors, materials, and finishes. Someone with a keen interest in material innovation, and with a focus on always finding the best sustainable solution. The chosen candidate will be part of a multi-functional design team that will design the future of Electrolux Fabric Care and Dish Care appliances.  

You will be based in Charlotte, North Carolina and you will be part of a global CMF team, collaborating with designers located both at the Electrolux HQ in Stockholm, Sweden and in the other Design Studios. Collaboration and alignment towards common goals are important, but at the same time you will have the ability to work independently and be part of evolving the CMF expression within the Care Design team.

A typical day at work

As a CMF designer at Electrolux, you will be involved in every aspect of the design process from initial ideas to the implementation.  This includes CMF and trend research, material innovation and storytelling, development of CMF assets, and execution of final color, materials, and finishes for production through prototyping, user testing, and the development of new materials. You will need to be highly detail-oriented, creative, and committed to working in multi-functional and multi-cultural teams. To succeed, you will need to have active collaborative and communicative approach to build strong partnerships within Design, R&D, Purchasing teams, and external suppliers.

Main responsibilities:

  • Manage CMF deliverables into multiple product development projects within Fabric Care and Dish Care product categories

  • Explore a wide variety of compelling color and material options through digital and physical prototypes

  • Develop, analyze, and approve final color, materials, and finishes for production

  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, also identifying new resources for materials to ensure innovative designs

  • Collaborate with local and global Design teams, internal stakeholders, and external suppliers to translate project goals into relevant design solutions

Education & Experience
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Graphic Design, or related field

  • 3 or more years of CMF Design experience

  • Experience and technical understanding of CMF manufacturing technologies and keen interest to continuously learn.

  • Experience in trend and consumer research, understanding and translating user’s needs into actionable design insights

  • Good communicator: visually oriented, with good verbal skills with strong ability to communicate ideas, influencing development teams and stakeholders

  • Must have a strong working knowledge of 3D and 2D visualization software like Keyshot, Photoshop, & Illustrator.

  • Fluency in English, other languages are a benefit.

  • Willingness to travel and represent the Design Team at manufacturing sites.
