The Technical Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing technical projects to ensure projects are delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget while meeting high-quality standards. The Technical Project Manager will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout the project’s life cycle.

Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for actively engaging with cross-functional technical and product management teams to prioritize tasks/work effort by understanding scope, requirements, level of effort, and pipeline, and clarify tradeoffs when changes are made to that plan  

  • Create and monitor active work, backlog, priorities and risks to team members, internal and external stakeholders  

  • Lead project scoping sessions to define technical requirements, deliverables, and timelines 

  • Create detailed project plans, including resource allocation, project budget, milestones, and risk assessment, to ensure the successful delivery of complex projects 

  • Manage project progress through regular check-ins, adjusting scope and priorities as needed to keep projects on track and aligned with business expectations 

  • Provide advice to business partners on options to accomplish requested projects  

  • Manage project documentation and report on project status, risks, and issues  

  • Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion  

  • Implement, measure and report on key performance indicators and ensure project dashboards are up to date.  

  • Adhere to enterprise-wide project management methodology standards  

 

Qualifications 
Required 

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience 

  • At least 3 years’ experience with project coordination or management of IT and/or software development projects  

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability influence others, build relationships, and work effectively with others in the organization  

  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively 

  • Ability to translate technical concepts to peers, management, leadership and customers 

  • Ability to work within multiple SDLC methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall  

  • Ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively remove obstacles 

  • Strong sense of personal accountability regarding decision-making and supervising technical teams 

  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, JIRA). 

  • This position is based in Overland Park, KS. and onsite

 

 

Preferred 

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Project Management Institute (PMI) certification  

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification  

  • Proven experience as a Technical Project Manager or in a similar role, with a track record of managing IT projects.
