Cloud Engineer

Job Description
Join BAE Systems is looking for an experienced Cloud engineer to join our team. This individual will have a passion for building and managing infrastructure and applications at scale and will work directly with programs and customer to shape their technical direction.
The Cloud engineer will serve as the technical subject matter expert (SME) for the technical direction of the customer's organization. This position will lead technical strategy and drive solution development for large-scale Multi Cloud enablement and infrastructure (compute, storage and network) modernization and sustainment opportunities.
This position will also develop technology road maps for future capabilities, system architecture, models and prototypes, as well as business and user requirements. The role is responsible for ensuring the quality of the solutions delivered meets all internal and external customer expectations and is sufficiently mature to be successfully transitioned into operation.
In this role, you will:

• Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Cloud design, development, implementation and migration projects/initiatives
• Lead, guide and architect solutions on various Cloud platforms - AWS, Azure, Oracle, Google
• Lead, architect and develop Cloud and Infrastructure solutions to include Cloud enablement, hybrid Cloud design and implementation, infrastructure modernization and service delivery enhancements that increase service quality and lower support costs
• Develop a working relationship with engineering staff to drive solution features and architectures
• Apply understanding of critical customer program goals to develop best-value, and tailored solutions.
• Be required to have the ability to think strategically and communicate effectively at the most senior levels of government (customer) or corporate management (company) to articulate the understanding of their mission needs and requirements, and to communicate the value and benefit of BAE Systems solutions
• Use your IT specific domain knowledge, including Cybersecurity; Enterprise IT infrastructure; and Cloud native design principles to develop lifecycle cost models to support architecture decision trades
• Develop technical approach and project engineering plans, including tasks, processes and critical resources, to turn the solution into a successful proposal
• Communicate solutions with customers, management, and teaming partners, including presentations and white papers

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in appropriate technical discipline (e.g. Engineering, Computer Sciences)
• Minimum of 10 years of experience, including 5+ years leading Cloud solutioning and migration projects
• Significant hands-on experience designing and supporting Cloud Migration efforts in a multi-cloud environment - AWS, Azure, Google, Oracle
• Ability to develop a Cloud migration roadmap/plan from On-prem to a multi-cloud environment
• Demonstrated experience designing and developing plans for Cloud Infrastructure, Operations and Maintenance, and Monitoring
• Must have hands-on experience successfully migrating several large applications from On-Prem to a Multi-Cloud environment (Azure, AWS, Google, Oracle)
• Strong understanding of Cloud migration issues (applications, network, database, compute) and experience successfully troubleshooting them
• Well versed in understanding of and experience troubleshooting latency issues related to Cloud migration
• Significant technical experience in some of these areas: networking, security, storage, databases, software development
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code technologies and solutions
• Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment
• Demonstrated ability to decompose complex Cloud and Infrastructure requirements into easy-to-understand solutions with clear value propositions

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Extensive Cloud design, engineering, implementation and migration experience

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $136620 - $232210
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
