TITLE: Cloud Architect 
LOCATION: USPIS – Washington, D.C. 
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Moderate Background Investigation (MBI) 
SCHEDULE: Due to the nature of law enforcement work and operation, position may require occasional support outside of core working hours, as well as intermittent weekend support, mission dependent.

About the Role:
Responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud computing infrastructure specifically for law enforcement agencies, allowing them to store, access, and analyze large volumes of data like bodycam footage, crime reports, and evidence securely in the cloud, optimizing efficiency and investigative capabilities while adhering to strict privacy regulations.

What you will do: 
Data security:
Ensuring sensitive law enforcement data is protected through robust encryption, access controls, and compliance with relevant privacy laws like CJI (Criminal Justice Information) standards. 

System design:
Architecting cloud-based systems for managing evidence, case management, criminal intelligence, and other critical law enforcement applications. 

Scalability and performance:
Building cloud infrastructure that can handle fluctuating data volumes and rapid access needs during investigations. 

Integration with existing systems:
Connecting cloud platforms with existing law enforcement systems like CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) and RMS (Records Management System). 

Cost optimization:
Managing cloud costs by selecting the right cloud services and optimizing resource utilization. 

Compliance management:
Ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements related to data storage, access, and privacy. 

Data sovereignty:
Understanding and managing where sensitive data is stored based on jurisdictional requirements. 

Chain of custody:
Maintaining a clear audit trail for data access and manipulation to ensure evidence integrity. 

Cybersecurity threats:
Implementing robust security measures to protect against cyberattacks on sensitive data. 

Minimum Qualifications & Skills: 
•    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field that provides a strong foundation in programming, networking and computing concepts. 
•    5+ years in experience 
•    Cloud Architect Certification (ex. Google Cloud Certified – Professional Cloud Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CompTIA Cloud+) 
•    Cyber Security Certifications - CompTIA Security+, CISSP and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) 
•    Experience with forensic security analysis
•    Robust experience with monitoring and logging capabilities
•    Internet Protocol analysis and experience – tracking, tracing, geolocation
•    Cloud Security and Data Security standards and specifications 
•    Network protocols 
•    Tools used for forensic investigation
•    Documentation and policy development

Clearance: 
Applicants selected may be subject to a government background investigation and may be required to meet the following conditions of employment.

•    Must be a U.S Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.
•    Favorable credit check for all cleared positions 
•    Successfully passing a background investigation including drug screening.

•    Standing/Walking/Mobility:  Must have mobility to attend meetings with other managers and employees. Standing for prolonged and extended periods of time.
•    Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling:  0% - 10% of the time.
•    Lifting/Pulling/Pushing:  0% - 10% of the time.
•    Fingering/Grasping/Feeling:  Must be able to write, type and use a telephone system 100% of the time.
•    Sitting:  Sitting for prolonged and extended periods of time.
