About the Opportunity:
The Client Portfolio Manager (CPM) is responsible for representing FII’s investment team with external clients and supporting all aspects of business development and growth. The CPM will have a deep understanding of multi-asset income investment strategies, portfolio construction techniques, and global market performance and serve as a subject matter expert in the areas of research views and portfolio strategy for current FII product offerings to the Retail Advisor Channel. As an integrated member of FII’s investment team, the CPM will focus on partnering with key distribution channels to support business growth and retention of assets in the Mid-West region of the U.S. This position will be based in New York City or Chicago.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of the Client Portfolio Manager?

Responsible for representing FII’s investment team externally. Meet with clients, prospects, and intermediaries to explain the investment philosophy, process, and performance of FII products.

Serve as an integrated member of the investment team, focusing on partnership with key distribution channels to support business growth and the retention of assets.

Support the investment team in growing and retaining assets by acting as a “proxy” for portfolio managers and serving as the main investment contact for clients and/or intermediaries.

Effectively communicate the investment philosophy, process, and performance of relevant investment vehicles
-
Develop and execute business and territory management plans focused on retaining existing clients and growing new business. Track interactions in CRM system.

Stay abreast of identified markets trends and the competitive landscape, along with the relative positioning of investment team and strategies.

This is an in-office position with travel expectations of 50%
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?
-
Client Portfolio Manager experience with 10-15 years of work experience in asset management
-
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred. CFA, FINRA (7 & 63) preferred.

Passion for the markets and knowledge of multiple investment vehicles including Mutual Funds, ETFs, and SMAs, and Multi-Asset Income Strategies.
-
Experience as product or distribution specialist with strong understanding of investment concepts and desire to grow a business.

Experience presenting to and working with Financial Advisors
-
Ability to communicate investment insights effectively with internal and external stakeholders
-
Experience using investment software and analytics (i.e. Bloomberg and Morningstar)

Knowledge of the current competitive investment landscape (i.e. strategies, classifications, and channels) is a plus.

Must have the ability to travel to the Midwest region on a regular basis to meet with clients.
Compensation Range: Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. The salary, benefits and variable rewards will reflect the seniority of the position and a competitive market rate. We expect the annual salary for this position to range between $150,000 to $175,000 in addition to a competitive bonus.
