On behalf of a client in the engineering industry, we are seeking a highly skilled civil engineer to support the firm’s sanitary sewer design, drainage, and land development efforts. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in civil engineering principles and the ability to work on a variety of projects related to infrastructure development. This is a full-time, on-site, permanent position located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Conduct feasibility studies and site investigations to assess project requirements and constraints
- Prepare engineering designs, calculations, and drawings for sanitary sewer systems, water drainage, and land development projects
- Collaborate with project stakeholders, including architects, surveyors, contractors, and regulatory agencies, to ensure project objectives are met
- Perform analysis of each project to optimize stormwater management systems and mitigate risks
- Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates for civil engineering projects
- Review and interpret local codes, zoning regulations, and environmental requirements to ensure compliance
- Conduct site inspections and provide technical support during the construction phase of projects
- Utilize Civil 3D software to create 3D models, generate profiles, create cross-sections, and perform earthwork calculations
- Participate in project meetings, presentations, and client interactions to communicate project progress and address concerns
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
Requirements for this position include the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Minimum of five years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on sanitary sewer design, drainage, and land development
- Proficiency in using Civil 3D software for design, drafting, and modeling
- Strong understanding of hydraulic and hydrological principles related to water management
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations governing civil engineering projects
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively convey project updates, risks, and strategies to diverse stakeholders
- Proficient in project management software and tools
- Thorough understanding of civil engineering principles and practices
