Position DescriptionCommitted to upholding the firm's reputation for hard-hitting, objective research with an unusual twist, the role of the Publications team is to help analysts get their message across loud and clear and ensure financial rigour and brand integrity. The Chief editor’s critical contribution is to manage the workflow of the editors, monitor their output and provide training, as appropriate, to bring their work up to the highest standard. Key Areas of Responsibilities
- On a day-to-day basis, you will check report submissions, ensuring approvals are in place, the analyst has used the pyramid structure, and the content is complete and appropriate.
- You will then allocate the project to an editor, offering advice as to where the copy may need strengthening and recommending a timeline for getting the report published.
- Post edit and formatting, you will check the output, suggest further edits and flag questions that the analyst needs to address.
- Strong rewriting and research abilities with a sense of design and sensitivity to corporate image will reinforce your contribution; as will your desire to bring new ideas to life to enhance the overall quality of the product.
- Ad hoc projects will require you to think on your feet and put forward innovative ways to improve the readability, visual appeal and commercial impact of our publications.
- You will also help manage the team of SAs and suggest ways to improve their output and ensure they adhere to regulatory and compliance requirements as well as house style.
Requirements
- At least five years’ editorial experience within a brokerage
- Supervisory analyst (Series 16) qualification
- Further experience in online/print-media journalism would be beneficial
- Exceptional English language skills and a high level of numeracy
- Confidence to manage a team of editors and provide relevant on-the-job training
- An innate desire to improve the product
- A keen eye for detail and an ability to précis copy with flair
- A solid team player but self-motivated and able to work independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and aptitude in design areas
- A University degree
