The position
As our new Chemicals Specialist, you will be an integral part of our highly skilled team dedicated to ensuring chemical compliance and reducing environmental impact in alignment with our environmental strategy, Circular for Zero. Situated within the Environmental Compliance and Expansions Support department, part of the Strategy & Sustainability area within Product Supply, Quality and IT (PSQIT), you will collaborate with colleagues to support compliance activities related to chemicals for both existing production and expansion efforts.
Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring and translating current and upcoming chemical regulations relevant to Novo Nordisk and the pharmaceutical industry, including restriction proposals, and communicating their impact to relevant stakeholders
  • Supporting registration projects to drive compliance with requirements, including data mapping, test strategies, and reporting
  • Contributing to internal positions and strategies on the use/avoidance of specific chemicals to support our environmental strategy and related ambitions
  • Assisting in internal impact assessments for upcoming chemical regulatory requirements, including supplier surveys
  • Preparing input to industry networks and authorities, including stakeholder consultations, position statements, and presentations
  • Supporting the development/digitalization of relevant internal chemical data repositories in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Providing support for Mergers and Acquisitions processes, including environmental assessments, due diligence, and integration activities for new assets


Qualifications
We are seeking a candidate with the following qualifications:

  • A Master of Science in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a relevant field
  • At least 3 years of experience working with chemical compliance in a regulated industry (pharmaceutical, medical devices, chemicals, or similar)
  • Expert knowledge of chemical legislation, both current and emerging, in an EU/US/global context (EPA guidelines, TSCA, REACH, CLP, etc.)
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
  • Previous experience with Mergers & Acquisitions of environmental impacts, such as due diligence would be an advantage

The department
You will be part of the growing Environmental Compliance and Expansions Support department, currently made up of 20 specialists responsible for driving proactive compliance to protect Novo Nordisk's global license to operate and to ensure compliant, sustainable Novo Nordisk products and facilities for the future.
