Job Description SummaryThe Product Support Engineering Sub-Section Manager is an engineering management role. This role includes responsibility for CFM56 and GE9X engine programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing a team of skilled product support engineers contributing to support customer fleets for safety and reliability, including activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components, engine services shop support, and GE9X readiness for EIS.
The PSE Sub-Section Manager coaches and develops their team and collaborates with Systems and Product Lines on strategic priorities for Safety, Quality, Deliver and Cost.
The SSM is responsible for talent development including staffing, mentoring and coaching of their team, succession planning, performance evaluations and guidance on career planning.
Partners with Module Integration Leaders, Product Line focals, Design Managers and/or other organizations to own daily management, strategic planning, solve problems and ensure timely project execution. Partners with Product Leaders on overall strategy and customer communication. Additionally the role requires direct correspondence with airline customers.Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support of installed base including activities such as customer issue resolution, fleet issues, service bulletin implementation, Monitoring & Diagnostics, fleet configuration. Maintenance of fleet data, outage management.
  • Typically a 1st line manager of professionals or a 2nd line manager of a professional department. Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
  • Provide Direction to the team to meet the needs for the correct project execution and meeting project schedule.
  • Own on time delivery of the project, Milestones & deliveries.
  • Own the quality of Technical and Business reviews of the assigned team.
  • Partnership with experts for critical & high complexity projects.
  • Partnership with Systems/Module leader on defining project priorities,
  • Partnership with CTHs and staff engineers to complete Risk assessment for challenging schedules.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or similar.
  • Experience in a leadership role within an engineering environment.
  • Experience in the Engineering/Technology & Fleet Management.
