Huntsman is seeking a Category Manager, Global Benzene supporting the Corporate Purchasing organization located at our Corporate Headquarters in The Woodlands, Texas.
This position will report to the PUR Sourcing - Director Purchasing Aromatics & Olefins.
Job Scope
As a Category Manager, you will work with internal shareholders to develop and execute the Huntsman global benzene sourcing and inventory optimization strategy. This role will analyze and execute intra-regional benzene opportunities as well as domestic spot purchases and sales in line with the overall business objectives. This role will also maintain an up-to-date view of the US and global markets and will be responsible to maintain relationships with the benzene industry.
As the Category Manager, Global Benzene you will:
✅ Manage the benzene sourcing with a keen focus on value creation.
✅ Jointly develop and execute the business global sourcing and inventory optimization strategy.
✅ Close collaboration with business supply chain team.
✅ Lead all regional benzene contract and spot purchase negotiations.
✅ Manage sales of benzene as required to achieve working capital and EBITDA targets.
✅ Smartly execute alternative sourcing options to reduce overall benzene cost by spot deals.
✅ Support and optimize inter- and intra-regional opportunities on logistics.
✅ Provide input into the global reporting and market updates (P&L, position, working capital and cash costs, etc.).
✅ Keep up to date on latest market dynamics regarding aromatics.
✅ Sourcing of other energy and energy related products including electricity and natural gas for US manufacturing sites.
Required Qualifications:
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.
✅ A minimum of a bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of related experience.
✅ Previous experience of leading and working within a diverse, intercultural team.
✅ Experience in the commodity chemicals and/or chemical trading and/or Oil & Gas derivatives procurement. Commodity trading experience is good too. Someone who has covered these types of categories for industry reporting also could work.
✅ Knowledge of US energy markets.
✅ Demonstrated success in the above key accountabilities and responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
✅ Previous experience in benzene commercial environments is preferred but not required.
Skills & Knowledge:
🔵 Familiarity with SAP, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Power BI and other software.
🔵 Strong results orientation.
🔵 Strong negotiation skills.
🔵 Strong influencing skills.
🔵 Strong oral and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of other languages is an asset.
🔵 The role will involve some travel (up to 15%).
