Catalyze360 AI Platform is launched as a cutting-edge AI Platform designed to enable privacy-preserving model development, deployment, and collaboration between Lilly and external BioTech partners. This platform will empower companies to jointly train AI/ML models while safeguarding sensitive data, addressing key pre-competitive R&D challenges. By fostering secure and collaborative innovation, we aim to significantly enhance predictive R&D capabilities, driving breakthroughs that benefit all participants in their internal workflows.

What You'll Be Doing:

As the Lead Platform Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of a large-scale IT ecosystem that will drive innovation in pharmaceutical R&D. You will be hands-on in creating robust technical architectures, developing scalable solutions, and ensuring seamless system integration. This role requires deep technical expertise, guiding a team of engineers to deliver complex, high-quality software solutions. You will collaborate closely with partners from R&D, AI, and Business Development to accelerate medicine discovery and development for Lilly and Lilly’s biotech partners.

How You'll Succeed:

  • Design and develop robust, scalable, and secure software solutions with a hands-on approach.
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering best practices in software development, code reviews, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
  • Build and maintain microservices architectures and APIs, ensuring seamless interoperability and data flow across platforms.
  • Implement containerization solutions, particularly using Kubernetes, to support deployment and scaling needs.
  • Collaborate with diverse technical teams, including R&D, Data Science, IT Operations, and AI/ML teams, to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Ensure optimal system performance, reliability, and security through proactive monitoring and continuous improvement.
  • Drive the adoption of modern engineering practices, tools, and technologies to enhance productivity and software quality.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide hands-on support to resolve them efficiently.
  • Design, implement, and maintain AI/ML Ops pipelines to support model development, deployment, monitoring, and management.
  • Ensure robust integration of AI/ML models into production environments, focusing on scalability, performance, and reliability.

What You Should Bring:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide, mentor, and inspire engineering teams.
  • Significant experience in software development technologies including Python, Node.js, and React and exposure to languages such as Golang, Rust
  • Experience applying systems engineering concepts to complex distributed systems with high throughput & availability requirements.
  • Experience with architecture and software design tools such as UML for system modeling and design.
  • Strong API design skills with practical experience using API management tools like Swagger/OpenAPI and Postman.
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and deploying containarized workloads in the cloud, particularly with Kubernetes.
  • Experience designing & implementing user experiences which use AI/ML to drive insights & business value
  • In-depth knowledge of AI/ML practices, including experience with model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience with tools and frameworks for AI/ML such as MLflow, pytorch, tensorflow, or similar frameworks/tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex technical challenges effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry is highly preferred.

Your Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in architecture, system integration / engineering, and software engineering, with a proven track record of delivering complex, cross-functional IT solutions.
