Who are we?
is enabling the transition to self-driving vehicles through an initial focus on the most commercially advanced sector; the autonomous shuttling of goods and people.
We are home to some of the world’s leading experts on autonomous vehicles, creating solutions such as Oxa Driver, equipping vehicles with full self-driving functionality; Oxa MetaDriver, using Generative AI to accelerate and assure the safety of deployments; and Oxa Hub, a set of cloud-based offerings for autonomous fleet management.
Our technology is being deployed across the UK and the U.S, and we’re partnering with a fast-growing ecosystem of operators, vehicle OEMs and equipment makers serving autonomous transportation globally as it advances.
Your Team and the Role:
As a C++ Software Engineer you will join our Shield Control Team. Shield Control own and develop a collection of high-integrity apps which act as the final layer of defence for:
- Collision avoidance
- Handling component failures
In an ideal world, such a layer wouldn't need to exist. However, in the real world, we have to be able to handle anything. For example:
- An object falling out of the back of a moving vehicle ahead
- A tyre bursting due to poor maintenance
- A person running out from behind a parked car.
The role will involve:
- Developing and reviewing C++ code for Shield Control apps and tooling
- Diagnosing and fixing bugs
- Learning from robotics and C++ experts in the team and the wider Oxa community
- What you need to succeed:
- Working C++ knowledge
- The ability to...
- Debug software faults
- Design and implement solutions to complex problems
- Work both independently and across teams
- Support your colleagues when they need help
- Give and receive constructive code reviews
- A willingness to try new things
A value-add of some kind (see examples below)...
- Knowledge practice of safety standards (e.g. ISO 26262, MISRA C++:2023, ASPICE)
- Robotics domain knowledge (e.g. ROS)
- Expertise in modern C++ template meta-programming
- Skilled at control systems design
- Adept at creating software for resource constrained environments
- Something else we haven’t thought of that you think might be relevant!
