The Portfolio Technology ERP Advisor is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of technology and business. This role is designed to operate and continue to build a program that protects and creates value within Blackstone’s global portfolio of companies.
As a senior member of the team, you will own relationships with business unit leaders and company executives in order to drive ERP initiatives throughout their portfolio of companies. As a trusted advisor, you will closely engage with ERP upgrades, net new implementations, carveouts and M&A, and the optimization of existing programs. You will own relationships with ERP partners and integrators to ensure that ERP projects are delivered on-time and on budget. Our work is a mix of hands-on program operations and advisory responsibilities that requires exceptional communication skills in order to interact with a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
Job Functions
- Within our general framework, build a comprehensive strategy for ERP initiatives across the portfolio, including key performance indicators to measure project success
- Counsel and share knowledge about the methodology with senior executives and peers
- Lead through implementation programs with the ability to interface with technical/non-technical stakeholders
- Assess and articulate ERP risks, opportunities, and recommendations as part of investment due diligence
- Ensure budget management practices are in place to optimize resource allocation during implementations
- Assess, interview, and advise companies across all industries about ERP practices
- Perform briefings about ERP best practices to company leadership and technical teams
- Interface with third parties to drive ongoing ERP initiatives across the portfolio
- Develop case studies based on successful implementations to share learnings across the organization
- Use business intelligence tools to create reporting and maintain metrics using collected data
- Own and drive select program functions and collaborate with teammates as assigned
Related Skills and Qualifications
- B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technology field. M.S./MBA a plus.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a mix of hands-on and advisory/leadership roles
- Expert level understanding of the business process and technical aspects of ERP planning
- Experience operating, maintaining, and implementing ERP systems from more than one vendor
- Expert level understanding of ERP system concepts and implementation details of specific products
- Ability to identify implementation or upgrade project health related to scope, complexity, resourcing, and timing
- Ability to assess an established ERP implementation and advise CIOs on best practices and optimization
- Ability to advise on ERP consolidation
- Ability to identify manual business processes that can be automated into an established ERP system
- Broad subject-matter experience and able to field discussions across the spectrum of business processes and ERP technology
- Demonstrated success executing across multiple initiatives, exceptional time management skills, and comfort navigating uncertainty
- Ability and natural desire to work as a player-coach with clients and junior team members
- Prior consultative/internal experience with senior technical and non-technical executives
- Strong understanding of data modeling, scripting/coding experience a plus.
- Self-starter, ability to prioritize work, and propose and implement improvements
- Highly effective communicator both verbally and in writing
- Strong time management skills and entrepreneurial attitude
- Desire to work in a small team in a hands-on way
