Job Description
An evergreen gifting space, with a variety of products and services dedicated to gifting, provides both a consistent core offering for year-round gifting occasions and a continually refreshed selection relevant to seasonal holidays.
In this role you are responsible for an evergreen Gifting and Holiday content strategy, product selection, use of customer and trend information to support merchandise strategies and building the assortment plan within the financial plans to support them. In this role you will develop a strong, inclusive bench of diverse future Nordstrom merchant leaders that are curious and approach work with a growth mindset. You will be responsible for planning to achieve financial objectives to meet and exceed departmental sales volume, and merch-margin-return-on-investment (MMROI) targets. You will also define and lead complex programs and initiatives that deliver against JWN priorities.
A day in the life...

Is responsible for delivering product and brand strategies that support JWN customer strategy and priorities, in alignment with Assortment plans and allocation. Builds a relevant assortment by country, channel, and store region/cluster, reflecting nuance in customer style aesthetics and occasions.

Owns, manages, and develops new and existing brand relationships and manages brand portfolio that delivers against JWN sales, margin and inventory targets while ensuring that assortment continually evolves to best serve our customers.

Articulates vision, assortment strategy and item intent to key cross-functional partners; working collaboratively to ensure product priorities are successfully translated from strategy to execution.

Owns brand on-boarding and negotiations: terms, distribution, brand performance expectations (pre/in/post season), item costing, discounts, shipping costs, marketing contributions, RTV’s, VFMD collection and exclusive collaborations, alt inv model, supplier compliance/chargebacks and pre-payment where necessary.

Collaborates and curates with other Buying and Assortment Planning teams to ensure the assortment mix has a balance of commercial product (best of the best brands, items)

Develop deep multi-channel expertise, including presentation knowledge, customer behavior and competition for all channels

4+ years of previous buying and planning experience

Program management skills necessary to manage multiple pop-ups across several locations at the same time

Strong brand relationships to bring forward pop-up opportunities and partnerships

Strong negotiation skills and experience maintaining vendor relationships

Strong analytical skills to support problem solving and strategic thinking

Ability to organize and plan across multiple stakeholders and cross-functional partner teams

Leadership presence with the ability to speak, listen, write, and present clearly and concisely

Demonstrated understanding of Nordstrom’s retail and service environment

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint

Experience managing and supporting a high-sales volume category (high SKU count, heavy seasonality, high revenue) (preferred)

Pay Range Details
The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.
Washington: $103,500 - $175,000 AnnuallyThis position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more. Eligibility requirements may apply based on location, job level, classification, and length of employment.
