As a Business Technology Manager in our Fort Worth, TX office, you will sit with the business to act as a strategic thought leader across multiple stakeholder groups within Commercial Operations. The key priority of this role is to accelerate Alcon’s digital ambition through digital transformation initiatives in North America, specifically by leveraging technologies such as AWS & SalesForce.
The Business Technology Manager will work with business stakeholders to: gather requirements, build & develop solutions for projects proposed, identify & evaluate current technology stack, partner with IT on needed technology to develop solutions, and ensure long-term sustainability of any technology solution developed.
In this role, a typical day will include (in order of importance):
- Building & developing technology solutions
- Work in agile methodology with other team members
- With building, it is expected that you will build best in class solutions as well as maintain business & technical documentation best practices
- Establish goals and objectives in line with stakeholder´s expectations
- To help with building solutions, you will manage offshore dev teams
- Management will include direct reports based out of Mexico City
- Indirect management with 3rd parties such as IT or external vendors
- Communicate with direct manager and enterprise leaders on technology solutions
- Build process maps, visualizations, PPT, dashboards, etc.
- Throughout the build process, it is expected that you will communicate progress, successes, and risks consistently with your direct manager as well as enterprise leaders
- Be effective in communication with both technical & non-technical stakeholders
- Partner with IT & other internal technology teams
- Meet with other internal technology teams to share knowledge of industry best practices for relevant tools
- Provide technical feedback on digital initiatives as it relates to systems and technology
- Ensure redundant efforts are eliminated through good partnership & effective collaboration
- Ensure team adheres to Alcon´s established governance, frameworks and tools and ensure consistency with Alcon´s policies, standards, processes, and guidelines
- Identify ways to optimize processes
- Be a thought partner by prioritizing business and functional requirements through planning sessions with business stakeholders
- Determine, negotiate and obtain stakeholder buy-in on technical solutions
- Evaluate tech stack & Strategize for future
- Develop strategic prioritization of technology projects and initiatives through assessments
- Partner with IT on current tech stack and long-term tech strategy to meet needs of business requirements
- Consistently learn and keep up with changes in technology and propose new solutions for improving
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+0 yrs)
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
- 5 Years of Relevant Experience

Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in various coding languages such as: SQL, Python, CSS, Java, HTML, etc.
- 1-2 years of Management Experience
- Intermediate to advanced experience with AWS
- Background with working in agile methodology
- Strong systems/technology background (AWS, SFDC, Alteryx, Tableau, SAP BI, Cloud technologies)
- Proven self-starter with ability to lead through influence
- Ability to build strong relationships and communicate with a breadth and variety of internal and external resources
- 5+ years of applicable systems/technology experience
