We are seeking a Business Development Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in mergers and acquisitions within the wealth management industry. The intern will learn about the deal process, basic valuation terms and methodology, and current consolidation trends. Additionally, the intern will have the opportunity to work on an independent project, exploring an area of interest in the field and presenting their findings to leadership. Key takeaways from this role include developing a strong understanding of mergers and acquisitions, enhancing analytical and research skills, understanding different valuation methods and gaining practical knowledge of the wealth management industry. This position is ideal for students aspiring to build a career in business development and financial services. This is a remote/hybrid internship opportunity for candidates located in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area.

Primary Job Functions
Team Support and Assistance

Assist analysts with data entry and pipeline management

Craft PowerPoint presentations

Prepare company valuations and deal analyses

Will gain an understanding of the deal process and key documents
Research

Conduct deal research on wealth management firms

Create profiles for firms based on research

Will gain an understanding of basic valuation terms and methodology
Independent Project
-
Intern will work on one independent project related to wealth management mergers and acquisitions

Determine area of interest for project and define scope

Conduct independent research and make conclusions based on findings

Prepare a PowerPoint presentation based on the research findings

Present findings to Business Development department

Will gain introductory knowledge of wealth management industry and current trends in consolidation
Education/Qualifications
-
Preferably pursuing bachelor’s degree in business
-
Preferably students between their junior and senior year
-
Based in the Twin Cities, MN area with the ability to work onsite in Plymouth, MN headquarters

Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to successfully interact with people at all levels of the organization

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Detail oriented, highly organized and adaptable
WEG hires employees and makes decisions about their salary qualifications based on factors such as: the role to be performed; educational and professional experience, qualifications, skills and credentials; tenure, cost-of-living and demand for the role in the applicable market. Thus, the entire salary range for those who are classified as the Intern level is $34,309 to $52,983.
