This role:
The Business Development Exectuive is responsible for generating revenue and profit growth for Simtra. This will be achieved through the development and implementation of an overall sales strategy for both new and existing pharma clients. This role will work closely with Commercial Leadership, Development & Pre-Commercial Services, Contract Management, Business Management, Legal and Marketing to enable customer success through implementation of team strategies and focused objectives. The candidate will have the ability to build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, influence future strategic direction and develop strategic relationships with their assigned customer base.
What you’ll do:
- Prospecting for new leads, implementing cold campaigns to reach target opportunities with potential new customers, with a strong focus on promoting our Development & Pre-commercial Services
- Manage new business opportunities and existing business and build relationships with existing and potential customers to expand Simtra’s Customer and Product portfolio
- Demonstrate knowledge and confidently present Simtra’s service offerings from Development & Pre-Commercial Services through Commercial Production.
- Understanding of the market and customer needs, competitive intelligence, trends, strategic selling, personal networks, and interaction with other Simtra team members.
- Responsible for presenting proposals to customers demonstrating value creation.
- Actively lead the contract negotiations for contract manufacturing, clinical, development, formulation, and packaging services.
- Build credibility with thoughtful decision-making, commitment and accountability that promotes both the candidate and the Simtra culture.
- Plans, directs, and controls the sales and business activities for assigned clients and Simtra facilities through a clear sales strategy and firm alignment with Commercial Leadership and technical teams.
- Partners with sales support, marketing, and Development & Pre-Commercial Service team to support sales promotion, training, market research, or special projects.
- Create value for clients beyond price by orchestrating the optimal client experience.
- Attends tradeshows, conferences, and seminars to promote the Simtra brand, increase awareness of our capabilities and generate new leads.
- Manages, updates, and records all relevant sales activity in Salesforce.com, and shares information and background on prospective clients when required.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 10 years of demonstrated successful relevant healthcare sales experience or relevant experience.
- Sales experience in the pharma, biotech, healthcare, or contract manufacturing verticals preferred.
- Process Development/Commercial manufacturing experience in the sterile injectable field is preferred.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, as well as negotiation and presentation skills.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data for effective sales strategies and good organization/time management skills.
- Ability to understand and adapt to customer changing needs.
- Strong business acumen and knowledge of sales processes.
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and new concepts; able to easily move between strategic discussions and tactical execution.
Travel Requirements:
- 30-50% travel, depending on business development needs and new opportunities.
