GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Business Development Analyst is responsible for improving business development and sales strategy for American Equity by providing data insights, analytics and best practices. The incumbent provides professional operational support to sales initiatives that advance the organization through executive priorities.
**Position sits in West Des Moines and will work an onsite hybrid schedule**
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Uses data sets and models to develop analysis and draw conclusions about business performance to drive strategic sales and operational decisions, including agent, broker and contract holder retention and sales through multiple distribution channels.
- Provides data management, interpretation and analysis for Sales leadership to support decision making that reflects the strategic, operational performance and financial goals of the organization.
- Establishes effective mechanisms of communication with internal partners.
- Develops queries and reports and prepares ad-hoc data analysis to explain the financial and operational impact of various initiatives, evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns, and/or measure customer satisfaction or retention.
- Analyzes and digests data as provided by multiple sources.
- Leverages internal, market, and user centric data to ensure that sound decisions are made and that programs are appropriately analyzed.
- Leads and executes complex data related analytical projects that drive business decisions and efficiencies. Identifies trends or anomalies.
- Designs and develops highly dynamic reports, dashboards and data visualizations.
- Proactively improves the quality of production reporting.
- Defines benchmarks and KPIs to help measure progress and campaign success.
- Performs other related work as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics or related field of study; plus four (4) years of progressively responsible related business analysis and analytical experience supporting a similar marketing or sales function; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, Tableau, and Google Analytics preferred.

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and technical/operational procedures.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to successfully handle pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
