We are on an exciting journey of more sustainable plastic material in IKEA. Recycled and Renewable materials at an affordable price is one key focused area in our plastic strategy. Can you help us to develop and lead a supplier base for innovative and sustainable plastic raw material in IKEA?

We are now looking for a Business Developer for Plastic Raw Material based in Älmhult. Business Developer is a senior and key position for total business development in IKEA purchasing. You will manage many stakeholders both inside and outside of IKEA. You will lead and develop an optimal supplier base which is one important enabler for well designed, high quality and affordable products for the many people.

Business Developer in plastic raw material is a leading role in a business team set up including Business Developer, Component Development Engineer and Supply Planner. Together with the team, you have below major assignments:

  • Build long term professional business relationship with specific suppliers
  • Work continuously to lower/optimize the costs at suppliers to contribute to total lower costs for IKEA supply chain and end customer by negotiating with suppliers and leading RFQs when needed according to IKEA values and guidelines
  • Secure best material supplier and material choice is awarded for NEW product developments as well as product improvements in IKEA
  • Lead the contract review and signing process between IKEA and suppliers
  • Secure an optimized supplier base for the relevant materials for running grades
  • Lead the business and performance in the business team together with all members of the team by being overall responsible for supplier performance 
  • Develop and execute common action plans with suppliers to deliver to the execution of Category Business plans.
  • Professionally challenge suppliers to improve all aspects of supplier performance according to IKEA supply strategy
  • Build effective and actively maintain relations with suppliers through IKEA way of working
  • Evaluate and develop existing production capacities especially for recycled plastic materials
  • Pro-actively identify and implement new business opportunities. 
  • Responsible that supplier meets social, environmental standards.

In all situations act as an IKEA Ambassador, living the IKEA values in everything you do.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have profound experience in leading global purchasing and sourcing operations. It is an advantage if you have plastic material and production background. We also think that you share the IKEA values, culture and have a strong interest to work for a home furnishings company.

As a person you have lots of energy, drive and commitment to reach excellent results. You have entrepreneurial mindset combined with a simple leadership approach of bringing people together towards innovative ideas. You have ability to transfer big picture into concrete actions. You are business minded and are good in communication and building and maintaining relations. You have the willingness to act on opportunities and also skills to communicate fluent in English. You will be working in a truly international environment with a lot of contacts with colleagues and suppliers globally. The position includes travelling.
