Responsibilities / Tasks

The BioPharma Business Development Manager will be a key player in expanding GEA’s presence in the biopharmaceutical sector. This role is suited for a proactive, results-driven professional with a strong hunter mentality, dedicated to identifying and pursuing new business opportunities. The successful candidate will work closely with GEA’s global pharma team, focusing on market penetration, client relationship development, and the promotion of GEA’s technologies and solutions in the biopharma industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Market and Client Development:

  • Identify and pursue new projects and potential clients with applications suitable for GEA technologies.
  • Initiate and establish initial contacts directly or in collaboration with GEA and non-GEA partners to introduce products and technologies to prospective clients.
  • Cultivate and nurture client relationships, progressing them to the appropriate stage for introduction to regional sales contacts alongside the technical applications manager.

Client Engagement and Standardization:

  • Initiate the standardization and supplier recognition process with clients, ensuring GEA's technologies are recognized as a key component in their operations.
  • Serve as a respected industry expert and GEA representative at relevant exhibitions, ISPE and ASME meetings in the US, and other industry events, actively participating in council work.

Global Collaboration and Product Development:

  • Collaborate as a member of the global pharma team within the Business Unit, contributing to global marketing and product development initiatives.
  • Identify core requirements for products, processes, and documentation, and advocate for their realization within the Business Unit.

Business Growth and Lead Generation:

  • Exhibit a hunter mentality by persistently driving new leads and opportunities into the sales process.
  • Continuously push for the realization of new business opportunities, ensuring a steady pipeline of projects and clients.

Your Profile / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field.

    Proven experience in business development, preferably within the biopharma or pharmaceutical sectors.

    Strong understanding of GEA technologies and their applications in biopharmaceutical processes.

    Excellent networking and relationship-building skills.

    Ability to work collaboratively within a global team environment.

    Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

    Active participation in industry organizations such as ISPE and ASME is highly desirable.

    Skills and Competencies:

    Strategic thinking and the ability to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities.

    Exceptional communication and presentation skills.

    Strong negotiation and closing skills.

    Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative.
