The Biomechanist will assist with golf biomechanics sessions, monitor client progress, and support daily lab operations. The ideal candidate will have a background in kinesiology, physical therapy, or a related field, with a strong interest in learning new technical or clinical skills.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES        

  • Assist with biomechanics lab operations, including calibration, data collection, data processing and system maintenance.

  • Conduct biomechanics sessions for golfers of all skill levels, from beginners to professionals.

  • Collect performance data using motion capture, force plates, and launch monitors.

  • Analyze biomechanical data from the lab to generate individualized improvement plans aligned with each golfer’s goals.

  • Monitor golfer’s progress over time to assess performance improvements.

  • Partner with trainers, coaches, and clinicians to provide custom biomechanical analyses.

  • Conduct literature reviews and stay informed on advancements in sports science to integrate cutting-edge techniques into our lab approaches.

  • Collaborate with analytics teams to develop innovative metrics and research methods.

  • Work closely with R&D product designers to establish new processes that integrate simulation results with physical testing data for product innovation.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interpret biomechanics data in real time and effectively convey insights to players and performance teams.

  • Foundational understanding of kinematics and kinetics principles as applied to sports biomechanics.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the game of golf.

  • Advanced analytic and problem-solving skills.

  • Understanding of anatomy and familiarity with common golf injuries.

  • Capacity to troubleshoot and maintain biomechanical equipment and hardware.

  • Proficiency in motion capture software preferred (e.g., Qualisys Track Manager, Vicon Nexus, Motion Analysis Cortex).

  • Experience with biomechanics analysis software preferred (e.g., Visual 3D, OpenSim).

  • Familiarity with programming languages preferred (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field. Graduate degree in biomechanics, kinesiology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or athletic training is preferred.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in clinical or sports research setting.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including coaches, trainers, and clinicians.

  • Golf experience preferred.
