Research, identify and correct a wide range of discrepancies created by customer short/over pays using internal applications and knowledge of how freight is executed. Internal applications are to include but are not limited to Werner’s TMS, Freitrater, WEIS, Werner Rate Management System and Microsoft Excel. Work with partner departments and external customers to resolve issues causing billing discrepancies in a timely manner with the full authority to adjust. Utilize judgment to determine primary cause of discrepancy, assign responsibility for adjusted revenue by both department and cause. Report discrepancies with revenue impact greater than $500 to management team.
Audit newly published rates for top customer and new business awards greater than $350K annual revenue. Responsible for ensuring that rates are input, billed, and paid correctly according to the customer's business rules. Take initiative when problems arise & make the necessary adjustments to collect revenue billed. Assists in testing and implementing new processes and procedures to improve department functions.
Responsibilities:
- Audit newly published rates for all existing customer and all new business awards. Responsible for ensuring that rates are input, billed, and paid correctly according to the customer's contract.
- Research, identify and correct a wide range of discrepancies created by customer short pays using internal applications (AS/400, Freitrater, Smart, MasterMind) and Microsoft Excel. Work with internal and external customers to resolve issues causing billing discrepancies in a timely manner with the full authority to adjust freight bills with limits of $2,000.00. Track discrepancies with revenue impact greater than $500 for communication to affected departments. Utilize judgment to determine primary cause of discrepancy and obtain proper authorization to adjust revenue. Specifically responsible to assign responsibility for adjusted revenue by both department and cause.
- Answer telephone calls and/or emails dealing with customer inquiries about billing.
- Assists in training new Publication and Billing Customer service employees on audit procedures. Research revenue adjustments due to publications and auditing errors and assist in implementing new processes and procedures to improve department functions and reduce adjustments.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Timely and regular attendance according to the scheduled shift as determined by supervisory personnel.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience.
- Three years customer service experience required.
- Three to five years PC experience required.
- Three to five years experience working with Microsoft Excel required.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Alphanumeric data entry skills of 6,000 to 7,000 kph.
- Strong problem solving capabilities with attention to detail required.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work load, work independently and with team members to achieve the specific department goals.
