Behavioural Supports Ontario (BSO) PSW

This position is for our Extendicare Maple View Home, located in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario
Available opportunities include: Permanent Full Time
Work:
- Day, evening and night shifts and weekends
- Frequent contact with residents exhibiting responsive behaviours.
- Implements best practice in dementia, delirium and mental health conditions based on scope of practice
What you bring:
- Experience in long-term care required
- Knowledge and experience in care planning systems and documentation required
- Capable and physically able to perform duties as assigned
- Ability to communicate positively with other staff, residents and families
- Demonstrates empathy, concern and interest in providing quality care and service to residents
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Vulnerable Sector Screening is required
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill working with individuals with various types of dementia, delirium, mental health, other neurological conditions, and those who experience an acute behavioural change
- Training in Gentle Persuasive Approach, U-First! and DementiAbility is preferred
- Demonstrates enthusiasm, flexibility and ability to cope with change
- Demonstrates effectiveness as a team member through collaboration, respect and effective communication skills in interacting with residents, families and other members of the inter-professional care teams, including community and primary care team members
