We at the Cloud Telephony team are on a mission to revolutionize communication by enabling AI-powered voice solutions for consumers and businesses through the Truecaller platform. Our focus is on creating cutting-edge cloud telephony solutions that enhance the daily communication experience for hundreds of millions of users worldwide. Millions of users around the world directly, and will improve their daily interaction with their phone.
As a Backend Team Lead in the Cloud Telephony team, you'll spearhead the development of cutting-edge, AI-powered voice applications. Leveraging modern technologies, you will lead the design, development, and maintenance of our telephony platform and its surrounding microservices. Your role will be pivotal in driving innovation and ensuring the scalability and reliability of our systems.
What do we expect from you:
- Hands-on experience in the development and maintenance of high-load voice services.
- 8+ years of experience as a backend developer, with at least 5+ years of experience working with Node.js, and proven experience with voice applications.
- Strong knowledge of Node paradigms, best practices, and voice application development.
- Experience with various Node.js frameworks and tools specific to voice technology.
- Ability to evaluate and recommend optimal tools and technologies for voice application development.
- Experience with microservices architecture, DevOps, and continuous delivery pipelines.
- Solid understanding of deployment processes, including Kubernetes and Docker.
- Strong team player with a positive attitude towards collective code ownership, code reviews, and team collaboration.
- Proven leadership experience and the ability to mentor junior developers.
- Experience working with AI technologies and integrating them into voice applications.
What will you work on:
- Lead the design and development of scalable and reliable systems to handle rapidly growing global voice traffic.
- Oversee the development of high-volume, low-latency applications, addressing the challenges of distributed and highly concurrent environments.
- Guide backend feature development with a strong emphasis on ownership, including implementation design, unit testing, and metrics coverage.
- Actively participate in all phases of the development lifecycle, including feature grooming, code reviews, backend service maintenance (deployments, troubleshooting), and team mentorship.
- Provide technical leadership and direction to the backend development team.
It would be great if you also have:
- Golang experience
- NoSQL databases (Mongo, etc)
- Event-driven systems, stream processing
- Experience with telephony protocols (SIP, RTP, etc.)
