The AWS Senior Cloud Engineer will be responsible for supervising a team of Junior cloud engineers while overseeing the design, deployment, and optimization of AWS infrastructure.

This role is heavily focused on IT systems, including network architecture, operational frameworks, and ensuring cloud infrastructure is aligned with best practices for performance, security, and scalability. The AWS Senior Cloud Engineer will ensure seamless day-to-day operations, setting objectives, and resolving technical challenges.

Key responsibilities and authority

• Team Leadership & Supervision: Supervise a team of cloud engineers, setting daily operational goals, managing workloads, and monitoring performance.
• Network Architecture: Design and oversee the implementation of network solutions in AWS, including Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), subnets, route tables, and VPNs, ensuring robust and secure networking for cloud environments.
• Infrastructure Management: Ensure proper deployment and maintenance of core AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, RDS) while integrating traditional IT models with cloud-based infrastructure.
• Operational Excellence: Define and implement operating models that ensure scalability, performance, and security across AWS environments. Establish guidelines for managing workloads, data transfers, and system interactions across hybrid networks.
• Kubernetes & Container Management: Manage containerized workloads using Kubernetes, particularly in EKS Anywhere environments, ensuring optimal networking configurations and performance.
• Terraform & IaC: Leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using Terraform, ensuring consistency and automation across infrastructure deployments. Utilize Terraform Cloud for team collaboration and workflow management.
• Network Security & Compliance: Ensure all network architectures and AWS environments are built with security best practices, including IAM roles, security groups, and firewalls. Drive adherence to compliance standards, including data protection and disaster recovery.
• Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Contribute and adopt global monitoring frameworks that integrate network-level performance, application health, and security alerts. Provide guidance to the team on troubleshooting and resolving network or infrastructure issues.
• Collaboration: Work closely with IT, security, and operations teams to integrate cloud services into existing IT infrastructure, ensuring a seamless transition and optimal performance.
• Documentation & Standards: Ensure the team maintains comprehensive documentation of network architectures, operating procedures, and technical configurations. Establish standards for network performance, security, and disaster recovery.
• Provide technical support during disaster recovery and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) when required.

Key requirements

• AWS & IT Infrastructure Expertise: At least 3 years of hands-on experience in AWS cloud design and network implementation. Deep understanding and vast experience of traditional IT and their integration with cloud infrastructure.
• Leadership & Operational Management: Proven experience guiding IT teams, setting operational objectives, and managing daily workflows.
• Network Architecture: Expertise in designing and managing complex network environments, including VPCs, subnets, VPNs, and load balancers in AWS.
• Kubernetes Knowledge: Experience managing containerized applications and Kubernetes clusters, with a focus on EKS Anywhere.
• Terraform Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code, with a focus on automating network and infrastructure deployments.
• Security & Compliance: In-depth knowledge of network security, IAM, VPNs, firewalls, and compliance standards in cloud environments.
• Troubleshooting Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, with a focus on resolving network-related performance and connectivity issues.
• Operational Models: Understanding of operational models in IT, including workload management, data flow, and system integration.

Nice-to-Have:

• Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect
• Experience with Hybrid Environments: Experience integrating on-premises systems with cloud infrastructure.
• ServiceNow: Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools for incident management.

Education/ Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field experience
• AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) are advantageous.
