The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Underwriting Systems is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of underwriting systems within the organization. This leadership role requires a deep understanding of underwriting processes, system integration, and a proven track record with Duck Creek Policy implementations. The AVP will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that underwriting systems are efficient, scalable, and aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwriting Systems Oversight:  Lead the strategy, development, and management of underwriting systems to support business goals.

  • Duck Creek Policy Implementation:  Oversee and manage the implementation and optimization of Duck Creek Policy solutions to enhance underwriting capabilities.

  • Team Leadership:  Supervise and mentor a team of IT professionals, including developers, analysts, and project managers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration:  Work closely with underwriting, product management, and other business units to understand their needs and ensure system solutions meet or exceed expectations.

  • Project Management:  Lead projects related to underwriting systems, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.

  • Agile Delivery: Promote and implement Agile delivery models to enhance flexibility, efficiency, and speed of solution deployment.

  • System Integration:  Ensure seamless integration of underwriting systems with other enterprise applications and platforms.

  • Quality Assurance:  Implement and maintain rigorous testing and quality assurance processes to ensure system reliability and performance.

  • Continuous Improvement:  Identify opportunities for system enhancements and process improvements to drive efficiency and effectiveness in underwriting operations.

  • Compliance and Security:  Ensure that underwriting systems comply with industry regulations and organizational security policies.

Qualifications:

  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.

  • Experience:  Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT or underwriting systems, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.

  • Technical Expertise:

    •  Proven experience with Duck Creek Policy implementation is required.

    •  Strong understanding of underwriting processes and insurance industry standards.

    •  Experience with system integration, software development life cycle (SDLC), and project management methodologies.

  • Leadership Skills:  Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.

  • Communication:  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Analytical Skills:  Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

  • Project Management:  Proven track record of managing complex projects, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Adaptability:  Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Experience with other insurance software solutions and platforms.

  •  Knowledge of regulatory requirements in the insurance industry.

  •  Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) or relevant technical areas

**This is not a remote position. Applicants must sit in our Morristown, NJ office on our hybrid work schedule.**
